Ok, we are on week 4 of Resiliency Training! What has been your favorite nervous system calming shift practice so far? I’d love to hear from you – feel free to respond to this email and let me know what’s worked, not worked or any questions you have.
Taking the time to pause, notice and celebrate the time you’ve carved out to take care of yourself is a big deal. As we’ve learned, calming your nervous system is not self-care, it’s self-preservation!
This small moment of pause also activates your affiliation/affection system (PSNS), so pausing and celebrating any win, now matter how small, can help you build a habit-state that is more calm and relaxed.
If you are a person who likes to keep track, here’s a recap of what we’ve learned so far…
Would you believe that sound healing is considered to be one of the newest trends in health in 2022?
Well, it is, even though it’s been around for over 2,000 years. According to HealthLine, “Throughout history, music has been used to boost morale in military troops, help people work faster and more productively. More recently, research has linked music to a number of health benefits, from boosting immune function and lowering stress levels to improving the health of premature babies.”
Research has shown there are numerous co-benefits of sound healing, but I mention it here because, yes, it naturally helps us calm our nervous system and get back that resilient state we’re aiming for.
Now I thought this one was too good to be true. You could listen to certain frequencies and effortlessly go from frantic busy-brain to clear and focused? You could go from tense, hunched shoulders over your keyboard to relaxed and soft?
I can tell you, I have been experimenting with this for over 5 years and it sure does work like that! My absolute favorite thing about it is that it takes almost ZERO effort, but has noticeable payoffs. All you have to do is remember to turn on the right music at the right time.
I currently have 3 openings for new coaching clients & 1 opening for strategic advisory services – Learn More or Let’s Talk!
Consider this for yourself or share with a rockin’ climate shero in your life.
I’m so excited to get my services in the hands of those who need it, I’m offering a special 50% Friends & Family discount to all of you! If you’re reading this, then it means you’re in my circle and have touched my life in big or small ways – mention promo code, F&FLAUNCH50, to receive 50% off services through September 14, 2022.
Now it’s not just any sound! Specific frequencies produce different brain waves and trigger a rest/digest response from your nervous system. There is actually some pretty interesting stuff going on when the body interacts with sound. Ready to expand your learning and experiment with it yourself?
Have you ever heard of a sound bath? Many spas are starting to offer them as another modality that decreases stress and increases relaxation. I bring up sound baths and sound bowls because they deactivate our nervous system’s fight/flight response and activate our rest/digest or affection/affiliation system – just what we want to do in Resiliency Training!
As an email subscriber I’d love to offer you FREE access to my mini-course, Introduction to Sound Healing with Crystal Singing Bowls. On the checkout page, add promo code ResiliencyTraining#4 to access the course for free (code will expire 9/30/22).
I mentioned I’ve been experimenting with sound for years. I’d love to share my two favorite soundtracks that have helped me during my work day:
Quantum Focus: According to the creator, Magnetic Minds, this track increases focus, concentration and memory by using something called binaural beats (I go into that a little more in my sound healing course if you’d like to learn more) – the gist is that the resulting tone you hear creates an alpha brainwave response – this type of brainwave is recorded when people are in deep focus. The idea is, instead of your brain getting into that brainwave on its own, you can listen to that brainwave and your own brain will eventually sync to that pattern.
If you’d like to experiment with this track – listen to it on stereo speakers or with headphones during times you need to focus on a project or task at work. I’ve found it helpful. I’d love to know what your experience is! Pro tip: play it at a pretty low volume so you can only hear it faintly in the background – playing it at louder volume can be distracting and agitating, exactly what we don’t want!
Serotonin Release: Again, by Magnetic Minds. This one is my go-to track when I feel like I’m in a funk – that unexplainable, general grumpy monkey feeling. I play it in the morning while I take a shower or during a workday when I need a lift. Again, listen on stereo or with headphones. Pro tip: play it at a pretty low volume so you can only hear it faintly in the background – playing it at louder volume can be distracting and agitating, exactly what we don’t want!
Experiment! Resiliency Training is all about what works best for you. Test one of these out and see what happens. I hope one of these sound healing tracks helps you experience what it’s like to feel relaxed, focused and clear – your own personal state of resiliency – so you can be fully recharged to take on your day!
Let me know how it goes. I love hearing from you – the good, the bad and the ugly – we’re in this together!
Everyone who is alive right now, could use some tools to access their resiliency. Can you think of anyone else who could benefit from growing their capacity to move from the left to the right side of the graphic above? Share this blog with them now.
I’m super excited to share these easy and effective tools with you to build your resiliency, so you can make more clear and confident decisions. We need resilience to move forward together!
Wishing you freedom, growth & joy,
